Watercolour of mushroom, late 19th century [reverse of X265/1]
Monday 23rd August 1915: Private W. Wildman of the 5th Bedfords Supernumerary Company has made an unusual discovery at Sharnbrook. He has found a mushroom of extraordinary size. This fantastic fungus measures no less than fifteen inches across, has a diameter of 37¼ inches, and weighs a hefty 1 pound 11 ounces.
